Reporting an inaccurate figure

We republish New York City's public records. If the city's record is wrong, our report will faithfully reproduce that error — so a correction usually has two halves, and we will tell you honestly which one you are dealing with.

To help us move quickly, include:

• The address or ten-digit parcel number (BBL) of the property.
• Which section of the report the figure appears in.
• What the report says, and what you believe is correct.

If the error is ours — a calculation, a label, a record matched to the wrong lot — we will fix it and, where it affects the figures, clear the cached report so the corrected version is served. If the error is in the city's own record, we will tell you plainly, because we cannot rewrite the public record and we will not pretend otherwise.

If you own or manage a property listed here

Everything shown about a property comes from public records that anyone may look up. We do not add commentary of our own about people, and we do not publish anything the city has not already published.

That said, if you are an owner or managing agent and you have a concern about what appears on your property's page — an inaccuracy, an outdated status, a record attached to the wrong lot, or a genuine reason a page should not be listed — write to us and we will look at it. Tell us the property and the specific concern. We read every message of this kind and we respond to it.

Written summaries

Where a report carries a short written summary, it is generated from that property's own figures and labelled as such — see the methodology. If a summary reads as unfair or misstates what the numbers show, tell us which property and what it got wrong. Those reports are useful to us and we act on them.

Everything else

Questions about how a number is calculated are usually answered in the methodology or the FAQ. If they are not, ask — the gaps you find are how those pages get better.
